Unpacking Education 5.0 in Zimbabwe: A Social Work Perspective

Zimbabwean universities are now being guided by Education 5.0. The study seeks to explore the space of the Social Work profession in the context of Education 5.0 and to establish the linkage between Education 5.0 and the Social Work profession. The study makes use of a qualitative research approach using a desk review and key informant interviews as a data collection method. The research found out that Education 5.0 can be used to address social problems being faced in Zimbabwe which is the core mandate of the Social Work profession. The study further found out that there is need to constantly update research technologies in the Social Work curriculum. This will produce a skilled innovative Social Worker who is culturally sensitive and technology friendly to address social problems. The study concludes that Education 5.0 can be used as an innovative solution for a Social Work model that is culture-specific. The research finally recommends the need for Social Work training to constantly update and incorporate online research techniques that will produce models to solve social problems.
