Datasets for this study was to measure the construct validity and internal consistency of the South African Personality Inventory (SAPI) in a general South African context.

The study followed a quantitative cross-sectional design and a post-positivist paradigm was applied. A combined convenient and purposive sample was employed to gather the data for the study. The data was collected by means of an online survey and the heterogeneous sample consisted of 510 adults in the South African population. Item analysis was performed to determine the functionality of the SAPI items in a general South African context. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to establish the initial factor structure of the SAPI. Thereafter, confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to confirm the factor structure that was found with exploratory factor analysis.
