SUMMARY Samples of blood were obtained from 2,194 animals (1,772 cattle, 41 sheep, 250 goats, and 131 camels) coming to slaughter in northern Nigeria during the period 1966-1970. Intracerebral ( i.c .) inoculation of blood serum into infant mice resulted in the isolation of 33 viral isolates representing 10 viral types: Dugbe, IbAn 17854 (Jos), Sango, Shamonda, Shuni, Thogoto, Wesselsbron, West Nile, a Bunyamwera-group agent, and an unidentified chloroform-resistant agent. The results of this survey, done in the Guinea woodland and Sudan savannah vegetative zones, were compared with results of a similar survey made in the high-forest zone of southern Nigeria.
