Abstract
Business stakeholders are becoming increasingly concerned about the increasing environmental difficulties as a result of the escalating rivalry and unsustainability practices following the COVID-19 pandemic. Supply chain management in Africa is becoming more vulnerable due to unsustainable practices; however, many companies in developing economies are not paying attention to the adoption of disruptive technology to improve their sustainability performance. With that in mind, this chapter delves into how green supply chain management (GSCM) can impact the sustainability performance of selected listed manufacturing companies in Nigeria, one of Africa’s most populous and biggest consumer markets. Listed manufacturing enterprises made the study’s population, and disruptive AI served as a moderator. The researcher used a survey research design. Using the Research Advisor Table, to arrive at estimate of 491 respondents to make up the sample. Google Form was used to distribute the questionnaires, and 100% response rate was achieved. According to the results, listed selected Nigerian manufacturing companies’ GSCM and sustainable performance were significantly impacted by disruptive artificial intelligence (AI). This chapter found that listed Nigerian manufacturing businesses’ sustainable performance is greatly impacted by disruptive AI and GSCM. Increasing technological adoption and reducing environmental issues during product creation, distribution, storage, disposal, and end-of-product life cycle management are two recommendations made by this chapter to the management of Nigerian manufacturing businesses in order to improve sustainability performance.
