Deaf and hearing visiting NG's house. This project was supported by the Endangered Languages Documentation Programme (ELDP) (funded by Arcadia). The project presents a unique effort to document the acquisition of a sign language in a deaf village over an extensive period of time. Kata Kolok is threatened by the increasing number of sign-bilinguals using Indonesian Sign Language in addition to Kata Kolok, as well as recent changes in marital patterns. Deaf and hearing at the oen of the deaf families' compounds Son of SA Child started to sign well before she speaks. Signer was married to an Indonesian Sign Language user for a short while, and for this reason has limited knowledge of the language.
