Scientific freedom is a central consideration in the development of robust scientific activity, and in relation to its use in addressing major challenges such as those framed in the Sustainable Development Goals. This is especially important in Africa, as the continent strives to develop and strengthen capacity across the various scientific and technological disciplines, and in so doing become an active partner in and contributor to scientific advances. Respect for scientific freedom creates an environment in which such developmental goals can be achieved. UNESCO Catno: 0000391148 UNESDOC landing page: unesdoc.unesco.org
