Afro-Linguistics is a branch of linguistics that focuses on the study of African languages, their structures, and development. In Namibia, the importance of Afro-Linguistics extends to understanding and documenting the country's linguistic diversity. The study employs a qualitative approach, analysing existing policies and academic literature related to language education and research in Namibia. Expert interviews and document reviews are used as data collection methods. Findings indicate that current policy does not fully account for the diverse linguistic structures within Namibian society, particularly regarding indigenous languages such as Oshiwambo and Otjiherero. There is a need to enhance inclusivity in language education programmes. The analysis reveals gaps in existing policies that hinder comprehensive Afro-Linguistics research and educational integration in Namibia. Recommendations include the development of more inclusive policy frameworks, emphasising the importance of indigenous languages in educational curricula. Additionally, increased funding for research into African language structures is suggested.
