AI Divide among Teachers: STEM vs. Non-STEM Teachers' Awareness and Perceptions on the Integration of AI-based Tools for Teaching

Despite the growing applications of artificial intelligence in education (Zawacki-Richter et al., 2019), many educators, especially in Africa, lack the required knowledge and experience to adopt AI into their teaching practices (Ahmad et al., 2017). However, whether this gap is influenced by subject category, particularly the disparity between STEM and non-STEM teachers, remains unclear. This research investigates the perceptions and awareness of STEM and non-STEM teachers regarding the integration of artificial intelligence in teaching.
