At the Somalia Research Integrity Workshop, held online on 26 August 2026 and organized by the Somali Library Association (SLA), SIMAD University AI Institute, Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa), and Public Library of Science (PLOS), DataCite Community Specialist Mohamad Mostafa delivered a virtual presentation providing an overview of DataCite and exploring how persistent identifiers (PIDs) and open metadata can strengthen research integrity, trust, and visibility.The presentation covered DataCite’s membership pathways and explained how DataCite DOIs and the DataCite Metadata Schema support the identification, discovery, linking, and reuse of research outputs. It also highlighted how adopting persistent identifiers and open, structured metadata can help research institutions and researchers enhance the visibility and connectivity of their scholarly outputs and contribute to a more transparent and trusted research ecosystem.
