Clean Water Technologies and Maternal Health in Dakar, Senegal: An Assessment

In Dakar, Senegal, access to clean water technologies significantly affects maternal health outcomes. The study employs a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data from public health records and qualitative insights through interviews with healthcare providers and community members. A notable proportion (35%) of pregnant women reported using improved water technologies, leading to an observed improvement in hygiene practices among mothers-to-be. The integration of clean water technology into maternal care protocols has the potential to enhance health outcomes for expectant mothers in Dakar. Implementation of comprehensive training programmes for healthcare providers on best practices related to clean water use should be promoted. Additionally, further research is needed to evaluate long-term effects and cost-benefit analysis.
