Prior to the introduction of biomedicine in Cameroon during the colonial era, Cameroonians treated health problems on a traditional basis with both food and non-food items. Among the food items employed, the parts of the diverse wild animals that were eaten in the country played a preponderant role.  The paper delineates the various parts of edible wild animals that served as medicine among the following ethnic groups – Bakweri, Mbo, Bamum, Wawa, Doowaayo, Guidar and Kotoko. These have been selected to cover a north/south transect of Cameroon taking into consideration the country’s diverse ecology, culture, linguistics and ethnic composition.
