Data governance in African societies, particularly in Cameroon, faces unique challenges due to socio-economic disparities and digital divides. A qualitative approach was employed through semi-structured interviews with stakeholders including tech companies, civil society organizations, and government officials. Data privacy concerns were paramount among interviewees, reflecting a strong emphasis on personal information protection in African contexts. The findings highlight the need for culturally sensitive data governance frameworks that prioritise social inclusion and digital equity. Developing tailored AI ethics guidelines informed by local perspectives is recommended to address specific challenges in Cameroon. AI Ethics, Data Governance, Cameroon, African Societies
