This study explores the classification and land-use attributes of soils for optimal fertility in Imo State, Nigeria, using statistical research and geographic information systems. Primary and secondary data covered the state's three senatorial zones, 27 local government areas and 79 communities, with purposive samples drawn from six local government areas and six communities. Soil classification followed the Food and Agriculture Organization framework, while spatial analysis used ArcGIS 10.9. Findings show that Dystric Ferralsols in Orji, Owerri, Umu-Ikoro and Umu-Akpa have limited fertility for many crops because of high acidity, aluminium toxicity and nutrient deficiency, while soils in Okigwe and Obiakpu display more suitable land-use attributes.
