# public-domain-translations
> Translate public-domain literature into low-resource languages; PD sources verified; outputs openly licensed. · **Risk tier:** med · **Status:** planning
`public-domain-translations` is a Hee-Lee Oss good-deed project that translates **genuinely public-domain literature** — novels, short stories, folktales, poetry, plays, essays, and children's classics — into **low-resource languages** for which little or no freely readable literature exists. The mission is simple and durable: a child or adult who reads a "small" language should be able to read the world's shared literary inheritance in their own tongue, for free, forever.
**Definition of shipped:** Public-domain works translated + published openly; adopted by communities/libraries.
