Open-source R toolkit: Transferable green digital strategies for African manufacturing & mining SMEs, evidence from Chinese listed industrial firms # Green Digital Africa Toolkit **Author:** kaluba-jacob **Date:** July 2026 ## 1. Project Overview This repository contains the complete reproducible econometric analysis code for the **"Green Digital Africa"** empirical research project. The study investigates the impact of **Digital Business Model Innovation** on **Green Total Factor Productivity (GTFP)** using a panel dataset of Chinese listed firms from 2016 to 2024. The full analysis pipeline includes three standard phases of empirical research: - **Phase 1**: Data cleaning, variable construction, baseline regression, and robustness checks - **Phase 2**: Heterogeneity analysis (boundary conditions of the effect) - **Phase 3**: Mechanism analysis (mediation channels) ## 2. Project Structure ``` The project follows a modular, beginner-friendly RStudio structure with clear separation of raw data, analysis scripts, and output tables. Scripts are numbered in the order they should be run. green-digital-africa-toolkit/ │ ├── run_all.R # One-click master script: runs full analysis ├── 01_data_preparation.R # Step 1: Import raw data, rename variables ├── 02_clean_data.R # Step 2: Filter sample, build control variables ├── 03_descriptive_statistics.R # Step 3: Table 1 - Descriptive statistics ├── 04_baseline_regression.R # Step 4: Table 2 - Baseline TWFE regression ├── 05_robustness_checks.R # Step 5: Tables 3-5 - Three robustness tests ├── 06_heterogeneity_soe.R # Step 6.1: Table 6 - SOE vs Private heterogeneity ├── 07_heterogeneity_pollution.R # Step 6.2: Table 7 - Pollution intensity heterogeneity ├── 08_heterogeneity_firm_size.R # Step 6.3: Table 8 - Firm size heterogeneity ├── 09_mechanism_rd.R # Step 7.1: Table 9 - R&D innovation mechanism ├── 10_mechanism_carbon.R # Step 7.2: Table 10 - Carbon intensity mechanism ├── analysis_plan.md # Theoretical analysis plan ├── green-digital-africa-toolkit.Rproj ├── .gitignore ├── LICENSE └── README.md # This file │ ├── data-raw/ # (Input) Raw data - NOT tracked by Git │ …
