# nigeria-energy-finance-integration ## Overview An analysis of the correlation between power generation and key economic indicators from 2021 to 2024, including inflation, exchange rate, GDP growth, and oil prices, using Python, SQL, and Matplotlib. ## Key Findings 1. Correlation between Generation and GDP, Inflation and Exchange rate over the periods 2021 to 2024 was low having values of -0.159, 0,149, 0.213 respectively. 2. There was a negative correlation of -0.965 between generation and oil price. 3. With just 4 data points, the resulting graph and correlation from comparing oil price and generation is questionable 4. Only 5 out of 11 discos recieved more energy in 2024 compared to 2021 5. The The five discos that showed an increase over the time period were in what we consider regions of higher economic activity 6. The The declining discos were mostly located in the Northern region 7. Kaduna and Yola had a combined 57% decline, with each individually having a 28.5% decline ## Data Source Data sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), and World Bank published records. ## Tools - Python 3 - Pandas - Matplotlib - SQLite ## Files - `energy_finanace_integration.ipynb` — Main analysis notebook
