With a view to the creation of the United African States, the choice of Kiswahili as the language of continental unification is a realistic option, as it would enable Africa to recover its linguistic sovereignty and develop according to endogenous cultural models. It's not a question of replacing all the existing official languages, the majority of which are colonial European languages, with Kiswahili, but of taking advantage of African multilingualism to organize the user-friendly use of several languages, including Kiswahili, to make it an African language common to the whole of Africa. The current situation already shows the decisive role of cross-border vehicular languages, many of which cover vast regions. Kiswahili stands out as the official language of the African Union and six other countries. The ideal situation can therefore be achieved within ten years, through appropriate language policy measures.
