Allapo Anzhoolle performs five lyre songs and demonstrates two additional rhythms: the first song is of an unknown rhythm and was called boltta gayrints ('praise of in-laws'), the second is an aakkwase-song, the third a c'aaggo c'alti-song, the fourth a woysa-song (more precisely: song of the Gayl woysa, i.e. Galila bamboo flute, rhythm) and the five a baac'a-song. The lyrics are very difficult to understand due to the old age of the musician. Some of the songs seem to include lyrics from neighbouring languages, Gayl (Galila Aari) - see file 003 - and Goop (Gofa) - see file 004. Finally, Allapho demonstrates the gen'a rhythm (file 006) and a still to be determined rhythm in file 007. Yvonne Treis is a linguist and works on Ethiopian languages at CNRS in France.
