The following training and educational material were created under NESTLER (oNe hEalth SusTainabiLity partnership between EU-AFRICA for food sEcuRity) Horizon Research Project, Funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement no.101060762. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As part of the project commitment to advancing the One Health approach and fostering a sustainable EU-Africa partnership, the NESTLER project is pioneering the use of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae as a sustainable, cost-effective protein source for animal feed. Through hands-on demonstration trials at the Muhanga RAB station pilot (Rwanda), the project is showcasing the production of BSF protein and its integration with IoT devices to enhance poultry and aquaculture farming. These initiatives directly address the critical challenge of high feed costs for smallholder farmers in Rwanda. To support widespread adoption, the project has also developed comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for BSF farming, providing a clear, practical guide for local farmers to establish their own production systems and contribute to a more resilient and food-secure economy.
