This study delves into the innovative use of remote sensing technology to detect and analyze tectonic plate movements and their associated impacts on land degradation in Loita and Majimoto Wards, located in Narok County. While tectonic activity is often overlooked in traditional discussions about environmental change, its effects on the landscape are profound and far-reaching. Tectonic shifts contribute to the reshaping of the earth’s surface, influencing soil erosion, altering vegetation patterns, and changing land use over time, all of which exacerbate the ongoing issue of land degradation. This study sought to bridge the gap in the existing research by deployment satellite imagery, geospatial analysis, and time-series data to track the progression of tectonic shifts and correlate them with changes in land cover and quality. The study findings showed that changes in land use land cover practices in the area between the years 2017 and 2018. Rangeland change by -2, bare land by +1, built-up 0, cropland +2 and trees -1. The findings revealed the highest displaced at 0.00998475M while the lowest are at -0.151822M. The project’s outcomes are expected to provide actionable strategies for land management and conservation, offering both short-term solutions to prevent further degradation and long-term recommendations to improve land resilience. By integrating the findings into local policy frameworks and development plans, the research aims to enhance the capacity of communities, policymakers, and stakeholders to make informed decisions about land use, conservation, and disaster preparedness.
