The rapid advancement of disruptive technologies has prompted universities all over the world to rethink their strategic planning processes, particularly in developing countries like Nigeria. As academic institutions strive to remain relevant in an increasingly digital age, strategic planning becomes essential to effectively integrate these technological innovations into library services and operations. This study, therefore, explores the role of strategic planning in the adoption and management of disruptive technologies in Nigerian university libraries, emphasising the need for a proactive approach from library management. Through a comprehensive analysis of the current state of university libraries in Nigeria, the study examines the impact of disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cloud computing, mobile technology, data analytics, and social media on library services and operations, including information retrieval, resource storage and management, and user engagement. It also explores current state of disruptive technologies, management perspectives on implementing disruptive technologies, challenges facing Nigerian university libraries, and strategic planning in the adoption and management of disruptive technologies in Nigerian university libraries. By integrating innovative technologies and embracing strategic planning, Nigerian university libraries can enhance their service delivery, teaching and learning, research outcomes, and better serve the communities. Through a management perspective, the study therefore offers recommendations for university management, university library administrators, including developing a technology adoption and management roadmap, securing funding and infrastructure, and creating a culture of innovation within libraries and library staff.
