The latest boom in artificial intelligence has been the most significant to date. Researchers attribute it to three synergistic factors: big data, reduced computing costs, and the maturation of algorithms. As is often emphasized, the success of any AI model depends largely on the quality of the data on which it is trained. The adoption of artificial intelligence has been relatively slow in healthcare compared to other sectors, and in Nigeria the challenge is even greater. This project seeks to demonstrate—within a specific context—how the quality of generated data limits our ability to harness the full potential of artificial intelligence.
