A scoping review of oral cancer interventions in Nigeria

Oral cancer ranks among the most common cancers in the world (World Health Organisation, 2025). In Nigeria, the pooled prevalence of oral cancer is 20% (Ucheoma Nwaozuru et al, 2025), making it a serious public health problem. Oral cancer includes cancers of the lip, other parts of the mouth, and the oropharynx (World Health Organisation, 2025). It is therefore important to address this issue through effective interventions.
This scoping review is therefore aimed at mapping and analysing oral cancer interventions, particularly those targeting prevention, detection, and treatment of oral cancers in Nigeria.
Different search engines such as PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science will be utilised to identify all studies published from 2000 to the present on the topic.
