Cancer genomics research in Nigeria is growing, but the scope, methodological characteristics, geographic distribution, and translational relevance of the available evidence have not been comprehensively mapped. This scoping review will map and characterise cancer genomics and related molecular-genetic research involving Nigerian populations. Studies published from 2006 to the final search date in 2026 will be identified through searches of PubMed, Europe PMC, Dimensions, and WHO Global Index Medicus. Eligible studies will include human research investigating cancer-related genomic, genetic, molecular, transcriptomic, or epigenomic characteristics in Nigerian populations. Records will be screened according to predefined eligibility criteria, and relevant data will be extracted using a standardised charting form. Findings will be synthesised descriptively and narratively according to cancer type, study characteristics, genomic and molecular methods, genes or molecular targets, geographic distribution, and clinical or translational relevance. Major gaps in the existing evidence will also be identified. The review will provide an overview of the current landscape of cancer genomics research in Nigeria and highlight areas requiring further investigation.
