Adherence to insulin therapy among patients treated for type 2 diabetes mellitus in Sub-Saharan Africa: A Scoping review protocol.

Medication adherence plays an integral role in the achievement of desirable clinical outcomes and treatment goals associated with chronic disease management. Poor medication adherence is detrimental in many ways, leading to increased complications and reduced quality of life. This systematic scoping review will be conducted to map evidence of adherence among patients treated with insulin for type2 diabetes mellitus and to identify the rate of patients’ adherence to their insulin therapy.
