Quality of Care for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients in Sub-Saharan Africa: Scoping Review Protocol

This scoping review on the quality of care for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on the dimensions of effectiveness, safety, and patient-centred care, seeks to map the evidence regarding current standards and practices in Type 2 diabetes care. It will highlight critical gaps in both research and practice, examine differences in care outcomes across various healthcare settings, and identify regional challenges and emerging opportunities for improving patient outcomes within the healthcare framework of Sub-Saharan Africa. This review aims to enhance diabetes care delivery, improve patient outcomes and suggest recommendations that can be equitably implemented to address disparities in the region’s healthcare systems and nurture a more resilient response system to address this public health crisis
