Digital Public Health Training in Formal and Informal Education for Workforce Development in Ghana: A Scoping Review Protocol

Sustainable digital public health interventions depend on the integration of digital health competencies into workforce training and continuous professional development. Despite ongoing digital transformation in public health systems across many low- and middle-income countries, including Ghana, efforts to systematically strengthen workforce digital competencies remain fragmented and insufficiently institutionalized. This review aims to map the existing evidence on digital public health initiatives that support workforce development in Ghana. The review will synthesize available evidence on digital public health training strategies implemented in Ghana, including their reported effects on workforce capacity and health system strengthening, as well as identified gaps in training, policy, and research. The findings are expected to inform the Ghana Health Service, the Ministry of Health, and other relevant stakeholders on targeted workforce development interventions in the domain of digital public health, with the overarching aim of strengthening the health system.
