DIGITAL TWINS IN OPTIMIZING LOGISTICS AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION IN RWANDA

This study investigates the application of Digital Twins (DT) technology in optimizing logistics and inventory management within Rwanda's construction industry. Using a qualitative methodology, data was gathered through semi-structured interviews and a detailed case study of a Kigali-based construction project. Key findings reveal that DT implementation significantly enhances inventory turnover rates by 25% (t = 8.45, p < 0.01) and reduces material delivery times by 20% (F = 12.78, p < 0.001). Challenges identified include high implementation costs and limited technical expertise, with a strong association between technical training availability and successful DT adoption (χ² = 22.36, p < 0.01). The study concludes that DT technology provides transformative opportunities for addressing inefficiencies in logistics and inventory management, recommending investments in digital infrastructure, technical training, and financial incentives to support adoption. These findings highlight the potential of DT to revolutionize Rwanda's construction sector, contributing to cost savings and enhanced project outcomes.
