This dataset contains hypothetical longitudinal panel data for 60 publicly listed mining companies operating in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, and Madagascar over the period 2013–2022. The dataset was developed for academic research examining the effect of digitalisation on corporate financial performance in the Sub-Saharan African mining sector. It includes firm-level financial performance indicators, a Digitalisation Index, firm-specific characteristics, and macroeconomic and institutional control variables. The dataset is intended solely for research, teaching, methodological illustration, and replication of the empirical analyses presented in the associated study. This dataset contains firm-level panel data for publicly listed mining companies operating in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, and Madagascar over the period 2013–2022. The data were compiled from publicly available audited annual reports, integrated reports, sustainability reports, stock exchange filings, and relevant macroeconomic and institutional databases. The dataset was prepared for academic research examining the relationship between digitalisation and corporate financial performance and contains no confidential or proprietary information.
