Effect of integration of artificial intelligence in service delivery in Medical Library, Benue State University, Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria

This study examined effect of integration of artificial intelligence in service delivery in Medical Library, Benue State University, Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. The study used the descriptive survey and employed questionnaire as instrument for data collection. Three research questions guided the study. Finding from the study showed that, the level of integration of AI in library service to provide reference and serial services is high; users derive high level of satisfaction from the integration of AI in reference and serial services in the library; lack of awareness by the library on AI integration; lack of concrete AI policy in the library; inadequate finances and poor network/ bandwidth penetration are challenges to AI integration in the Medical Library of Benue State University, Makurdi. The study recommended that AI should be fully integrated into service delivery in the library; library professionals should be educated on the need to integrate IA in the library to enhance optimal use of the AI services available in the library. Proper provision should be made for high speed network as well as provision of stable power supply and provision of funds to enhance integration of AI in the Medical Library of Benue State University.
