The aim of this Research is to develop a General Purpose Sentiment lexicon for the Yoruba Language for use in carrying out sentiment analysis and opinion mining research on texts available in Yoruba. I Collected and Translated Lui Lexicon into Yoruba and used the new lexicon to carry out sentiment analysis on text dataset scrapped from BBC Yoruba News Website. The sentiment scores were collected in a table and visualized. The performance of the new lexicon was compared with sentiment scores obtained from analysis using Lui lexicon on the dataset in English. ## Problem Statement Sentiment analysis research has made significant advancements, mostly focusing on Rich-Resource Languages like English, German, and Arabic. However, research on many Low Resource Languages is scanty.
