Impact of health education intervention on knowledge and attitude towards HPV vaccination in Africa: Systematic review protocol

Several reviews done in Africa has not focused on how education interventions impact the knowledge and attitude of individuals towards HPV and its vaccines. For example, systematic reviews done focused on knowledge, attitude, perception and acceptability of HPV and HPV vaccines (Addisu et al., 2023; Afelumo, 2025; Perlman et al., 2014). Furthermore, Kutz et al. (2023) conducted a systematic review on barriers and facilitators of HPV vaccination. Hence, this systematic review seeks to map and synthesise available evidence on the impact of health education intervention on knowledge and attitude towards HPV vaccination in Africa. The findings from this review will inform future studies and guide clinicians and public health practitioners to identify and develop health education interventions that will be effective in improving knowledge and attitudes of individuals towards HPV vaccination. Additionally, the findings will guide policymakers, educators, and healthcare professionals in developing evidence-based interventions that support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which seeks to achieve good health and well-being for all at all ages.
