
Google Earth Engine (GEE) JavaScript script for extracting Sentinel‑2 MSI Level‑2A imagery during the dry seasons (January–March) of 2023 and 2025 for four study areas in Sudan: Uro, Kurun, Marrah, and Mun Mountains.
The script computes the Modified Normalized Difference Water Index (MNDWI) and extracts the Near‑Infrared (NIR) band (B8). For each combination of year and mountain, a median composite is generated, and the resulting raster layers are exported as GeoTIFFs at 10 m resolution for visual assessment in QGIS.
This script supports the analysis of land‑cover and hydro‑disturbance patterns associated with artisanal mining activities in conflict‑affected zones of Sudan.
