This dataset contains annual values of rural, urban and total population from 1994 to 2024, per local municipality (including metropolitan municipality) and per district municipality in South Africa. This dataset was created as part of a research project on spatial inequality in Water-Energy-Food (WEF) security in South Africa, the implications on public health and the impacts of climate change.
