Abstract East Africa — Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique — has just five centuries of Christian history, and Christianity reached most of the populace only in the last century. Nonetheless Christians already comprise a majority in the region, and Christianity plays a central role everywhere except Somalia.
