The transition to sustainable energy and improved water management is critical for the resilience of the agricultural sector in the MENA region, particularly in North Africa, which faces increasing climate stress and energy access challenges in rural areas. The European Union-African Union (EU-AU) funded MG-FARM (Smart Microgrids as a Solution for Agriculture Farms Electrification) project [1] addresses this nexus by developing and demonstrating digitized microgrids based on Renewable Energy Systems (RES) coupled with Smart Storage Solutions (SSS) for agriculture farms in Algeria and Morocco.
