A selection of different types of songs, together with some descriptive information about the songs. This session contains the following parts: An introduction into "kangrang" songs & two "kangrang" songs. A "molo" song. A children's song. A children's song of the Alago and Jukun (who are neighbours of the Goemai). A song of the Montol (who are neighbours of the Goemai). A children's song of the Dorok Goemai (of Ungwan Rina). The "Goemai anthem" (from the 1970s). Two songs of masquerades (the "K'yang" masquerade, and the "Mangap" masquerade). This project documents the Goemai language (Afroasiatic, Chadic, West Chadic A, Angas-Goemai, Southern branch; spoken in Central Nigeria) in the form of a comprehensive reference grammar, a dictionary and an annotated corpus of natural texts. A performs two non-Goemai songs, one in a Benue-Congo language (maybe Alago?), and one in Montol.
