Tableau des langues (41) documentées dans les carnets d'Antoine d’Abbadie

This working paper was produced as part of the MSS-Abbadie project, funded by the Bibliothèque nationale de France (2020-23) and co-directed by Anaïs Wion (IMAF, CNRS) and Vanessa Desclaux (BnF). It benefited from the transcription work and linguistic expertise of Yvonne Treis (LLACAN, CNRS), whom we warmly thank for her decisive contribution to this project. This table summarizes the languages that the French traveler Antoine d'Abbadie documented during his travels in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea between 1837 and 1849. Several notebooks contain linguistic information, and this is a first attempt to systematically describe this source. Plusieurs carnets ont recueillis des informations de nature linguistique et il s’agit ici d’une première tentative pour décrire de façon systématique cette source.
