This report presents findings from a survey of university students in Uganda who self-selected into the AI Studio Academy community. It describes who they are, where they sit on a behavioural ladder of AI use from never having used AI tools to having built projects and what they want from AI education. The data show that 59% of respondents are at the beginner end of the ladder, while 41% are regular users or builders, with capability concentrated in engineering fields and thinner in business and education. Aspirations centre on improved use of AI in studies and work, career and internship connections, and ideas for building businesses with AI. The report sets a baseline for AI readiness in Uganda’s emerging workforce and outlines a research agenda for future waves.
