The bɛ̀-prefix shows up in Ngun ISO 639-3: mij, and also in Nsiteu (Maffo 2023:112) as well as in Kwaʼ [901] (Talla 2020:54). Kwaʼ [901] is a Eastern Grassfield speech variety of Central Bamileke language spoken mostly in North Makombe Subdivision in Nkam Division of the Littoral Region of Cameroon (Talla 2020, Taffre 2021, Maffo 2023). Nsiteu (West Region) and Kwaʼ (Littoral Region) could be the same language but with different appellations (glossonym) in different regions. The bɛ̀-prefix is what barely brings about the differences between Kwaʼ, Nda’nda’ and Medzumba. These three languages share almost the same root words for most items but differ drastically in that both Medzumba and Nda’nda’ make use of the bà- ~ pà-prefixes with “a” being the prefix vowel while Kwaʼ has the epsilon “ɛ” as the prefix vowel in the CV-prefix structure just like Ngun among Mungbam and Lower Fungom languages. In kwaʼ the bɛ̀-prefix is homogenous while in Ngun, it is somehow heterogenous varying between bə̀- ~ bɛ̀ because there is a high rate of exogamous marriages with women coming in from neighbouring villages where the bə̀-prefix is predominant. Ngun is a noun class language and makes use of many affixes as well as tones for the semantics of its lexicon and grammar.
