
This presentation summarizes the application of the Open Source Spatial Electrification Tool (OnSSET) to develop suitable electricity technology pathways for Bayelsa and Delta States in Southern Nigeria (2025–2050). The analysis explores least-cost electrification options under two key scenarios — 90% access by 2030 and universal access by 2050 , in alignment with Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan and Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7).
Using spatially explicit data and geospatial modeling, the study identifies the optimal mix of grid extension, mini-grids, and stand-alone systems required to achieve sustainable and cost-effective electrification. Results highlight investment needs, new capacity additions, population coverage, and policy implications for both short- and long-term horizons.
The presentation provides actionable insights for energy planners, policymakers, and investors, supporting data-driven decision-making and localized energy transition strategies in the Niger Delta region.
