A cross-African country dataset on Nationally Determined Contribution conditionality and adaptation finance allocation

This dataset hase two components, Africa NDC data and socio-economica and Environmental Characteristics data.

1.  Africa NDC data - contains cross-country derived indicators of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) conditionality and adaptation finance allocation across African countries under the Paris Agreement framework. It captures information from the most recently updated officially submitted NDCs available as of April 15, 2026. NDC documents were retrieved from the UNFCCC NDC Registry. For NDCs not originally submitted in English, translated versions provided by the World Resources Institute (WRI) through the NDC Partnership platform were used. The extracted and harmonized variables are:-  total NDC implementation cost; unconditional and conditional NDC costs; adaptation costs; unconditional and conditional adaptation costs; total emission reduction targets; and conditional and unconditional emission reduction targets.

The dataset is intended to support studies on cross-country NDC conditionality, emissions reduction conditionality, adaptation prioritisation, climate finance  and Paris Agreement implementation across African countries
