Proverbs and wise sayings collected originally in 2006. A number of them are variants. Variants are indicated by an additional a or b after the number. Those files ending with a -t are proverbs which were rephrased in a session with Tubale Okuma in April 2007. 969 proverbs are published in the book which is part of the 0040-Bogong proverbs bundle. The numbering of the proverbs in the book does not correspond to the audio files but the numbers of the recordings match the numbering in the toolbox database. The toolbox files of the published proverbs show the number of the proverb in the publication. Thus a CD could easily be produced accompanying the book. The proverbs which were not published were either too similar to already included ones or else they were rejected by the elders as not significant, unknown, or not relevant to Bogoŋ culture. Since Bogoŋ live in mixed communities, many Bogoŋ speakers have mothers, grandmothers or senior in-laws coming from different ethnic groups. Born 1986. Chief of Mbowura (Juo Mbowura), Juoadigbe clan. Joined the project as research assistant in 2006. Key figure of Bogoŋ Documentation. Also known as Nana Okonte. Former assistant of Dr Ulrich Kleinewillinghöfer and sub chief in Agou (Chief of Kabiti). He is also a senior member of a local African Church.
