Elicitation lexicon and grammar: domestic animals AMB2012-01-20_001-011

In this session, vocabulary items and example sentences from the semantic field of domestic animals were recorded from Ambaye Tsedeke. The recordings cover the following semantic sub-fields: cows, goats, sheep, chicken, mules, donkeys, horses, cats and dogs, the waste of domestic animals, the voices of animals, specific body parts of domestic animals, types of misbehaviour of domestic animals. In addition, a recording of ordinal numbers was made in this session. Ambaye was trained as a teacher and worked at different schools in the Basketo Special Woreda. At the time of the Baskeet documentation project he was one of the very free Baskeet native speakers who were fluent in English. In his freetime he worked as an assistant in the documentation project, carried out interviews, assisted in the transcription and translation and was a consultant in grammar and lexicon elicitation sessions.
