This is a casual conversation that occurred in the shade beneath Emma Airɨrmarɨ's new house in Ikundutu. Paul and Alex happened to be hanging around so I asked them if they would join me Anton and Emma for a yupɨyi (chat). At their request I did not go elsewhere but instead joined the conversation and awkwardly attempt to follow it and to make some contributions. It's a Friday which means market day, and so as we sit there near the village path, the folks from Akrukay gradually trickle up on their walk back to their respective hamlets in Akrukay. Greetings and various discussions arise. Various other topics are discussed, such as betel nut tree climbing, the abscess Anton has had on his backside, and, perhaps mostly interestingly, there is a fascinating discussion about the history of exchanging ritual dances ('singsings') along the Sogeram , to the extent that those details are known.
