L’IA au prisme de l’altérité en Afrique

International audience Artificial intelligence is on the rise, and the impact of AI on societies is evident. The most developed societies are already experiencing a transformation of social connections with technologies based on AI. While developed societies have a better grasp of the challenges of digital and AI and their implications for them, the vast majority of African societies seem to have yet to perceive the implications for them. The use of smart technologies in everyday life through smartphones is however a fact with real impacts on most African societies. Increasingly, with AI and its corollaries tending to reinforce the cyberspace, the social space seems to be restructured away from sensory constraints. Thus, will otherness, as conceived in African societies, not be upset? The aim of this paper is to show how AI could further reconfigure social space and alterity in Africa. From an analytical approach, it will be a question of rightly evaluating AI in the configuration of African societies.
