LOGOTHERAPY AS A PSYCHOLOGICAL TECHNIQUE OF CURBING CYBERCRIMES AMONG NIGERIAN YOUTHS

The main objective of logotherapy was to facilitate peoples’ quest for meaning and empower them to live meaningfully and responsibly, regardless of their life circumstances. But in an attempt for the people especially youths to get rich at all cost and find meaning to their existence irrespective of life challenges, they ‘engage themselves in cybercrimes. Cybercrime involves using computers and internet to commit crime. Cyber terrorism, identity theft and spam are other identified types. This study identified causes of cybercrimes, effects of cybercrimes on organizations, and the society and in the country. With Nigeria venturing into cashless society, there is a need for cybercrimes menace to be minimized or eradicated. Ways of combating such cybercrimes include protection of firms’ IT infrastructure; government should ensure formulation and strictly adherence to cyber-crime laws through the therapeutic logotherapy techniques, such that Nigerian youths cultivate the right approach to life and develop their strength.
