Replication Data for “C’est la Vie!: Mixed Impacts of an Edutainment Television Series in West Africa”

The replication data contain the datasets and analysis code files used to reproduce the results presented in the study evaluating the impact of the edutainment television series C’est la Vie! in rural Senegal. The data originate from a cluster randomized controlled trial conducted in 120 villages in the Kaolack and Kolda regions, targeting adolescent girls and young women aged 14–34. The intervention involved screening episodes of the television series through community film clubs, with some treatment arms also receiving pedagogical kits with post-screening discussions and workshops.

The dataset includes baseline, midline, and endline survey data collected from participants to measure outcomes related to violence against women and girls (VAWG), sexual and reproductive health (SRH), and related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Additional variables capture exposure to the intervention, participation in film clubs, and contextual household and demographic characteristics. The replication files also include statistical code used to generate the tables and figures in the article and to estimate treatment effects across different study arms.

Together, these materials allow other researchers to replicate the empirical results and verify the experimental evaluation of the edutainment intervention’s effects on knowledge, attitudes, and behavioral outcomes in rural West Africa. Replication Data
