FAQs
Questions users usually ask around linking records to Lanfrica
Do I need to own the record before I can link it?
No. You can link any record, including one that you do not own. Our platform allows any registered user to link any record by capturing only metadata and creating a reference back to the original source, which distinguishes linking from hosting and avoids ownership conflicts.
When users link records, their contribution is publicly acknowledged alongside the original creators, whom linkers are encouraged to identify and credit during the linking process: whether these are paper authors, dataset owners, keyboard designers or other creators.
This attribution enriches the record's metadata and ensures proper recognition for both the original creators and the users who discovered and linked the valuable resources.
Who can edit linked records?
At present, only two groups can update a record’s details:
the Lanfrica admin team, who may enrich or correct metadata internally, and
the “linker” who originally added the record.
In a future release (V3), creators will be able to claim records they own, add them to their library, and make edits.
To keep data trustworthy, every record page includes a “Report incorrect data” button; any user can flag problems, automatically alerting the Lanfrica staff, who can then investigate and, if necessary, suspend the linker’s account.
